As you all know I smoked my 4L60 after the waite4me tune. I have ordered a new 4L65E out of an 03 SS silverado to take its place. Its going in a 02Z71. Can anyone tell me what all I will have to change to get this tranny in and working?

    Thanks

Wouldn't you be better off just rebuilding what you had? The 2002 4L60E is stout if you build it up. You may end up having to pay twice the price to upgrade since you will have two transmissions to go through. All the parts and pieces to beef up and build what you have already shouldn't cost you more than $1000 to build up right.

I thought the 4L65 would swap directly in where the 4L60 was.
No more trucks, but this is what I used to have. 2000 GMC Sierra, 6.0L-LQ4, Built 4L60, LS6 Cam, The Other Guys Headers, 3 inch exhaust and 7 chamber flowmaster, 43lb injectors, Nelson Tuning, Drop - 3/4 McGaughys Spindles, Bell Tech Shackles & Hangers. Best time 13.59 @ 106

I was under the impression that the valve bodies are different completely. If you have different output shafts on the donor 65E it will have to be replaced with the output shaft from the original. Are all of the SS trucks AWD and if so, does the AWD use the same transfer case as a 4WD?
