I'm going to swap my PCM this week with one of Allen's on my 2000. I've read that some people have had trouble when alarm systems are involved. I have the Viper 791XV with the remote start. I know there is a dummy resistor installed somewhere to pose as the key when the remote start is used. Am I going to have any problems getting it running?
Anyone done this with their DEI remote start alarm that could lend info? Thanks!

I disabled the VATS and no more problems. Bad thing is it makes it easier to steal, hence my 92 was stolen with the alarm going off. I had the Clifford top of the line MATRIX3 unit from 2 years ago.

I thought the VATS was just the factory "alarm" stuff. What exactly does disabling it do? I already have the PCM and I didn't specify to take it out, so are you saying there is a difficulty?

If you have a PCM for a 2000 truck going into a 2000 truck, don't worry about the VATS. If you are retrofitting an engine, have the VATS disabled so you don't need resistors or signal modulators installed to fool the PCM into thinking the body control module is present.

Okay, I thought that was an older issue anyhow, but wasn't sure. Just put the new PCM in and I did have to do the passkey steps but once it liked my key, it fired right up! No funny idle at all! Now to get some miles on this thing and see what she can do!
