Thread: Will Someone With An 05 L33 5.3 Truck Please...

  1. #1
I believe Allen needs an 05 ECSB truck with the L33 H.O. Aluminium Blocked 5.3 to show up at his shop. Last I heard he is yet to tune an L33 5.3. The price may be very attractive.
I can't speak for him so call and see. If I were not 1000 miles away I would be there.

I am going on the 16th. I think mine is the LM7 with aluminum heads.

How do you tell the dif between the L33 and LM7?

Well, there are a few ways.
The glove box label will show L33.
The VIN number will have a "B" as the 8the number and the LM7 will be a "T".
You can see the block is iron below the heads at the front of the motor. It will be black with some surface rust.
The motor mounts have heat shields.
The passenger side transmission bell housing bolt hole just before the top bolt is empty due to the water jacket passeges differences not allowing for a threaded hole..

Do me a favor when you see Allen and ask him if he has tuned an L33 yet and if not tell him I said to get on it. :-).

I will check tommorow. I detailed under the hood today. The heads are aluminum and the block is cast iron. From what I have seen the L33 must be special order. Mine is more than likely the LM7. I did not know how to tell until your last post. Good info on the truck

I think the VIN # will be the easiest thing to look at.

My 05 is the same color as yours. Where did you get the bed cover?

I will be happy to get allen going on the L33. He always does what I tell him to do LOL

    Got cover at:
    Discount Hitch & Truck Accessories
    1000 Cobb Pkwy S, Marietta, GA 30060
    Phone: (770)795-8100

They may be out of business now but check because they were the cheapest. $429.00 shipped or installed.
I really like the cover. I had the Pace Edwards and then a Roll-N-Lock on previouse trucks. The Pace Edwards gets ugly fast, the Roll-N-Lock looks better longer but the sun eventually will get anything. The box they roll up in kept being a problem for me on both of them.

My 01 has the gem top that is flat on top of the bedrails. It has held up well. The struts have held up well and overall it has been good. I keep it waxed and clean. The sun has taken its toll on it but not to bad. I had it paint matched summit white.

    The 05 vin# 1GCEC19T95Z165208
    model C15753

It is the LM7. Where do you get information on the vin#? Is there a website?

Since I am being a pest with all the questions, how about one more?

What is the dif between the L33 and the LM7?

By the way, you had mentioned the price may be attractive on the nelson tune. Since I am a previous customer allen is giving me a great deal on the PCM, dyno time and custom tune. I have never been unhappy with any deal with allen. He is a strait shooter and always very pleasant to deal with.

L33 is aluminum block, and LM7 is cast iron.

    I want boony's welder setup. That's a nice one.

Now I don't know about the pictures of the crapper though. It's good to know he does use toilet paper.
