Everyone. Get off the computer. Clean your air filter!

I haven't cleaned mine in probably 40k miles (oops). It LOOKED perfectly clean. I blew it off with air, pre-rinsed it, sprayed it with the 'cleaning' spray, and threw it in a bucket full of water. Went to check on it 20 minutes later...DISGUSTING.

So if anyone else has been putting it off.... might want to check that

A fine example of how "NOT" to clean an airfilter. You're supposed to rinse it out from the engine side. You now have contaminates on the inside of your filter.

I blew the air from the center out. I 'pre-washed' it from the center out. I let the cleaner soak in, then threw it in bucket of water **which is where this dirt came from...not sure how much came off during first 2 stages**. Then rinsed it from center out.

    I think it's ok ;-)

What happens when you blow it out or rinse it from out side in is pretty simple to understand. If you push the large partials through the filter then it wont filter it anymore and just go into the holes.

this is bad VERY bad, a filter is much more efficient once it has started to get dirty you actually want dirt and stuff in the filter because it filters alot better. were not talking 100k miles or anyting like that but its deff not a good thing to be doing this every weeks it takes a while for the filter to start building up because when its cleaned alot more crap is going through the filter
