    5.3L swap having trouble starting

im having trouble starting my truck, it cranks and wants to start but then shuts off. i checked ignition power on the coils and injectors im getting spark. i havent checked the fuel pressure because i dont have a fuel pressure gage, i can hear the pump turn on when i put the key foward. i checked for code and no DTC show. NP turned off the vats. can anyone help on what to check or do. heres a vid trying to start.MOV01477.flv video by lorenzochevelle - Photobucket

    bad coil wire. . . haha, j/k

have you checked all of your sensors to make sure they are plugged in correctly? i would check all of the electrical connections, and then check for fuel pressure, you won't be able to read the pressure this way but you can depress the stem in the schrader valve on the fuel rail too see if there is pressuried fuel in the rails.

Ask Allen/Erika to double check the tune and make sure he turned off the VATS. Sounds exactly like VATS to me.

yeah that what i thought to, i went to NP yesterday and talked to jon and he said that the vats are off. its the second time they check the ecm. the first time i had a dtc of u0073. there was a bug that was stoping the ecm, they reloaded a new tune. you think the ecm is the problem, the truck turned on fine before and i havent moved anything.

put a fuel gauge on it and make sure you have sufficient pressure

Also, double check all your grounds on the back of the engine.

first off i would do as Red mentioned about fuel pressure at the rails and ground, what i mean by cleaning the injectors is, by taking them out looking at them and seeing if theres any pluggage, tap them on a piece of wood if they are dirty and or plugged. i had a simular issue and i used the old injectors from a motor i purchased and come to find out the injectors were plugged..

im gonna order me a fuel pressure tester to check pressure at the rails, also how many grounds do i need to have on the back of the motor? i only have one ground at the back it goes from the head to the firewall. the rest of the grounds are in the front of the motor, and next to the motor mounts.
