Don't know how deep you are wanting to go, but it will probably need suspension work too. The wheel/tire get close to the springs before it does the fender in the rear.
Any decent drivetrain shop can chop axle tubes and make the axles work, but honestly, if you're going to spend the money, get a heavier duty rear out of a SS or a ford 9" or something.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

you need to go 4 link to max out the clearance for wider wheels. DBRods, as previously mentioned, can do that for you. You could put big Mickeys on it, then.

4 link agreed, but I'd make sure I had the power to back it up. it'd be like a 94 d16 civic with a huge front mount that's hooked up to absolutely nothing
the ssr rear axle is a little shorter that a c/k truck which will allow u to put on wider tires

You can gain a good 3" per side with swapping to a 88-98 style 14bolt. But you are still stuck with the leafspring being in the way to run any kind of tire in the back. Unless you like sticky outies..
