    going to the boneyard tomorow...

to look for a 6.0L and a 4l80e trans for the swap into my 69swb c10 and im just curious how to identify the engine/trans. if my research so far is corrent it should be stamped somewhere on each, or the 4l80e has a 17bolt pan for id. anything else for identifying them i should know?

if the motor is apart from tranny itll have a 6.0 stamp on the right side(looking at back of the motor) there should be one on the front too if im not mistaken.
tranny pan i have no idea, isnt it the only tranny that doesnt have servos? on passenger side of tranny there will not be a circle like cap towards bellhousing, thats where the servos go.
worse thing get the number off of the head and call the dealership

317 should be cast on the heads and 6L should be cast on the block, passenger side behind flywheel. 80e will have the large electrical connector on the driver side and have two two wire speedo sensors on the driver side.
