OBS LQ4 4L80E swap trans linkage issues?

Ok, I have a 94 truck which was originally a 4.3L NV3500 5spd truck and after V8 swap the NV3500 became too much of a problem and 6spds were too expensive so I got a great deal on a LQ4 4L80E combo and swapped out the cam and got the Schoenfeld Long Tube headers and I pulled the automatic steering column and linkage from a 92 4L60 truck and of course that linkage won't line up with the 4L80E as its apparently at least 3/4" too wide to fit. I could cut it and shorten the width but still don't know if that will work properly or clear the headers since I haven't put the headers on yet.

What are you guys doing with this combo>

change to linkage rod in the transmission to an Fbody linkage.

That would put the shifter in the floor with a cable in the F-bodies. I don't want that. I want the shifter on the column so that my floor is clear and I don't have to reach down to shift. I want the 6.0 to look as much like a factory install as possible. Aside from the headers and little bit of cam lope.

what? changing the rod that goes through the transmission housing and pulls the selector rod in the valve body would make you put a floor shifter in? Damn, I guess thats why my truck wants a floor shifter.

cable? First, I missed the 80e comment since he said 60e rod. I have the 60e rod shifting my 80e without any issue. I thought he was saying he had a 60e trans that he was having that issue with. I know the fbody linkage is shorter than the truck linkage in the trans. Am I reading this wrong, he has the steel shifter linkage going from the column, down the firewall to the #7 shaped linkage to the transmission pivoting on the driver side frame rail? The open end of the #7 part should be up high. You need the correct linkage on the rod. I can get you a picture tomorrow if you need it. I have the column shift 60e setup shifting an 80e transmission and I have longtubes, though they arent the Schoenfelds.

Got you. Seems like there are several places to get confused there with all the swapping.
