Red face Best year of 6.0L to get ahold of?

I'm still fresh at the gen III engine family, whats the difference other than the cylinder heads on a 02 prior 6.ol truck engine, Reason I ask is because I can get my hands on a couple of 2000 truck 6.ol, are they any good or should I keep searching, would a GM performance parts cylinder head and cam wake up one of these older motors?

depends on what you're putting it into and what transmission you want to run behind it. Give us more info.

sorry about that, its 1999 two door 4x4 tahoe, i'm building it for the street, currently it has a 4L6oe and 3.73's but i'm shooting to put a 4L80e behind it, and swap a set of 4.10's into it.

An LQ9 would be the best if you can find one in your budget. Get the 80e at the same time you get the engine and sell the 60e to offset the cost. Be sure to get as much of the donor truck as you can including accessories, wiring, PCM, mounts, belts, hoses, radiator and electric fans if possible. Everything will pretty much bolt right in.

So other than the aluminum heads and higher compression the Lq4 would be a better engine to throw boost at?
