    Quick question

I'm planning to install a corvette servo on monday. I wanted to ask those of you who have already done this if there will be any loss of transmission fluid during the install, and if so how much?

not much, just about a shotglass full but be sure to put a catch pan under there because a little goes a very long ways.

    Thumbs up

Yeah only ittle bit, but enough to make a mess if you do not put a catch pan or shop rag under it. Just take your time like I did. I actually lowered my tranny a bit to get teh old servo out and the new one in. Watch that inner spring it can be a bear. Well it was for me.

Are you talking about the heavy spring housed inside the servo? If so, I just used a c-clamp to compress the spring, making it easy to r&r the retaining ring.

You're talking about the "compress it and get the snap ring off so you can transfer it to the new piston set" spring that this overly trained GM tech never saw in the instructions 'til I did my 2nd conversion so I had to redo the Denali.....I think....

The piston swap is easy (much more easierest on the Blazer than the GMC due to "jaust pipe crap") but the fact OPT's instructions don't mention the captured spring P I S S my off.

Know I figured that spring out with the snapring using the c-clamp trick. What I was referring to was the spring between the servo and the transmission itself. Is there a secret to re-installing it before the servo? I am almost wondering If that was/is my problem with the shifting and all? How can you check it? I know it is springy when I press on the cover.

Well I thought the video ad instructions I read said a 1/4 inch, but it did seem like a bit more to me, but I was just eyeballing it. It also seemed a bit soft too, but of course I as pushing against it with a prybar. I am tempted to pull it all back apart to double check it as soon as the weather permits. So I have not been jumping into it, plus gas prices climbing up. I am after mileage.

    Wow

i finally finished installing the servo. WOW. had some very frustrating moments. getting the c clip off and back on was a pain, and getting the pin and the spring lined up to go into the transmission was a MAJOR pain. took about an hour on my buddy's truck and about 4 on mine because mine had this damned heat shield in the way. but for the most part it was a simple install. my advice is to take your time and pay careful attention to details on instructions. I am very satisfied with the results though. shifting into 3rd is the best.
