    4.8,5.3 Swap

    ok i currently have a 4.8l in my 01 GMC right now, its got about 170,000 miles on it. im am thinkly about an engine swap. i would like to upgrade to a 5.3l. now what i need to know, if i do go to a 5.3 will the 4.8 computer and wiring harness be the same? and will the exuast flanges be the same? if anybody knows please get back with me

    pretty much everything is the same. I would skip the 5.3 and do a 6.0. It will all bolt right up. The tune could use tweaking a little because of the different size, but as far as putting the motor in, it couldnt be any easier.

    just swap everything thats on your engine to the 5.3/6.0L engine except the block and heads. As was said, it doesn't get much easier.

    ok so if i do do the swap, the wiring harness and the computer is the same. i will not have to change any of that?

    reuse the harness and PCM, just order an updated PCM from your favorite tuner such as Nelson Performance and swap the long block for your old unit. Be sure you use the injectors from the 6L if the part numbers are different from the 4.8 units. Inform your tuner what injectors you're using.

    The injecters on the 2008 5.3 are not the same plug as his 01. I don't know when they changed (what year). The 08s use the same plug as the EV6. Rod
