Thread: 5.3 service #

  1. #1

    5.3 service #

I hate to start a new thread, but I need a reply soon. As previously stated i bought a 6.0 lq4. And the ecm that was given to me is service # 12586242.
And im sure it wont work because mine IS cable and this ecm is drive by wire, i believe its wire. But im sure about the engine.

The purpose of this post is...I have to send an email tomorrow on what ecm i need, to the junkyard which i purchased this engine at. Does anyone know what service numbers i can use to run a 6.0 with a 4l60e? or does it not matter?
I have searched and only find service #"s for an ls1 ecm...unfortunately I'm SOL on those ecm's cuz the junkyard doesn't have any.
So i believe they have plenty of 5.3 and 6.0 ecm's. But like i said i want to run a 4l60e. So can anyone help me
    If anymore info needed LMK

The 5.3 ecm will run the 6.0 with or without a tune, right???
I do understand eliminating vats for it to run, just need help please.

I think you're missing a digit in your post above.

well whatever year the motor is it would be good to get the ecm for it, maybe not being of the same truck but same year model or within that year range 99-02 01 and 02 being of better pcms.i wouldnt think it doesnt matter if it was dbw or dbc, seen many change from dbw to dbc without changing pcms.

to answer your questions YES the 5.3 will run the 6.0 after it is tuned for it..

yeah i have read that thread, very useful...The ecm he gave me says green and blue connector, and the harness on the engine that it came with has red and blue connectors. I'm sure this is the harness because it was attached and looks oem. Now the ecm was seperate and I know they separate them all the time.
Looks like he did give me the wrong pcm after all.

so any 5.3 pcm will work although i'm going to use a 4l60e...I understand any old 350, 400, or 700 will do no matter what. But the 4l60 is controlled by the pcm to shift. does it matter what service number i get?
    Thanks

sounds like you got the 99-02 wire harness, so get a 99-02 pcm the last digits will be 411 which is better than the 99 model pcms. 5.3 6.0 anyone can be programmed to operate a 4l60e or 4l80e its only gonna depend on the harness, if its for 4l60e or 4l80e

cool, well i asked the guy if he had an ecm with the last #'s 411 and he said, no.
Is there any other ecm's that i can use or like you said any 99-02 will work.
I'm thinking this guy is just too lazy to check and since he already made the sell who cares, right...I guess I'm gonna have to stay on his ass about this one.

you could just order your tune from NelsonPerformance and ask for a 411 pcm. They will sell you a PCM alone if that is all you want.
