Not to sound mean but get rid of that 305 and get a 350. You could spend a fortune and never get that 305 to perform like a mildly built 350. JMO!

If you are gonna be racing it alot then I would upgrade that engine. The only reason I decided to build on my 4.8 is because I knew I would not be racing it alot. If I were gonna race my truck alot then I would stick an LS1 in it and build on that.
Your best bet if you plan on performance is an engine swap, as much as you may want that 305 to fly, it just ain't gonna happen.![]()

If you plan on racing this motor, there is not replacement for displacement. Build yourself a 383 and you will have more hp than the 350. Scat makes a good complete setup completely balanced and ready to go for about $1000 with crank, rods and pistons. I believe they even throw in bearings but I would purchase the newer coated bearing to free up friction. Also consider having most anything and everything coated, especially the pistons, to reduce friction.

i built a 350 bored .030 over a while back. engine was a beast. but sadly it was just too much for a 91 z28. nothing else was built to handle it. I was young and dumb, didn't know i need a good tranny and rear end to handle the power and torque
01 ecsb stepside. best 1/4 14.6 at 92 mph.
