Where to mount electric fuel pump?

I'm mounting a fuel cell in my truck, behind the axle. I'm going to be running an electric pump, but the way the cell will be mounted, the pump will be higher than the cell. Will that cause any problems? I've heard that inline pumps don't like to pull, it's better to gravity feed them. The difference will be about an inch or two. Will that shorten the life of my pump? Thanks.

Guys with fuel cells normally mount the pump at about the same level as the fitting hole in the fuel cell. Drag racers mount them pretty much at the rear bumper, more weight in the back and since launches force the fuel back there it's a short trip to the pump.

How do I flush out the cell? The directions say I need to flush out the cell before I use it. Do I just run water through it, then install it? Or could I just use compressed air?
