    blower took a CRAP

    Today my wifes 03 Z71 blower motor took a crap only works on high. 1-4 nothing, 5 its works full blast. any body know how much it will cost to fix it

    The fan blower for the climate control? Check the fuses. If it works on 5 then it's either the resistors or the switch.

    what do the resistors do and how do I check that.

    Not too sure where it's located on the NBS trucks. Maybe Airdeano or Hummertech can shine some light on where they're located. My OBS truck has it behind the glove box. It's somewhere in the air box so that it keeps from burning out due to lack of air flow.

    The resistors are right underneath the blower motor in that little housing. The resistors just regulate the voltage to the fan. Full speed = Full Voltage. 1st Speed = most resistance. 4th speed = least resistance. Sounds like it might be the resistors to me. Even if they go bad then you will still get full voltage to the fans on high speed because it doesn't use the resistors.
