    VSS is vehicle speed sensor, tells the PCM how fast the vehicle is traveling. Turbine speed connector senses slippage between the engine rpm and the speed the trans is turning.

    Fill us in again, what wiring harness is hooked to your engine and what transmission are you installing?

    The main round connector on the 4L60E transmission should have the layout as below...

    there are letters cast into the connection...

    Colors listed were from my 2001 Fbody(TransAm) wiring harness...

    PSM = Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch Assembly connection...

    A = 1-2 Shift Solenoid A - Red 48 (Light Green)
    B = 2-3 Shift Solenoid B - Red 47 (Yellow/Black)
    C = Pressure Control Solenoid High Side - Red 6 (Red/Black)
    D = Pressure Control Solenoid Low Side - Red 8 (Light Blue/White)
    E = +12Volts Input - Blue 19 (Pink)
    L = Temperature Sensor Input - Red 51 (Yellow/Black)
    M = Temperature Sensor Ground - Red 53 (Black)
    N = PSM Range A - Red 63 (Pink)
    P = PSM Range C - Blue 18 (Red)
    R = PSM Range B - Blue 17 (Dark Blue)
    S = 3-2 Downshift Solenoid - Blue 79 (White)
    T = Torque Convertor Control - Red 42 (Tan/Black)

    I also have...
    U = connected to Red 2 (Brown)

    Connection M in my wiring diagram said it was supposed to be the Ignition Retard Signal but my transmission sensor ground hooks up there. Maybe it's to lower the engine performance if the transmission gets hot?

    one of those small connectors isnt hooked up on the transmission and that could be what is throwing it off. i need to know where they physically plug into the transmission. anyone have a diagram showing the plug locations on the tranny itself?

    4L60 only has one connection beyond the large round connection. The other is the speedometer pickup on the tailshaft housing.

    thanks red im gonna go look at it. note to self plug in connections with tranny lowered next time. all the plugs should still be plugged in tho even if im using a 80e harness?

    nope, one is for the slippage detection mentioned earlier. The other is for the speedometer pickup. On the 80E they both connect on the driver side of the transmission. On the 60e only one connection is used and its on the passenger side of the tail housing.

    ok ive got one of the two plugged into the back of the tranny passenger side. do i need to slice the other one like it into the same plug?

    last night it threw 3 codes. an o2 sensor code which i think i found the reason on it, a torque converter code, and a 2-3 shift code.
