Thread: best stroker combo for the buck?????

1. #1
would it be cheaper to just buy the 408 short block and put my 5.3 heads and all my accesories on it or to just buy a turnkey? I have a 4.8 motor in there now but i aquired some 5.3 heads to work on while im still drivin. Cant sell it so i may as well make it a monster. also would i get more power from a stroker motor or just turbochargin it?

they will fit but you'll want some heads the really breathe. ETPs are about the best you can get. Patriot is a good cheap alternative. Remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to heads.

so... that kinda contradicts itself a lil bit. You say Patriot is a good cheap alternative, then you say you get what you pay for... am i missing something?

Gotta give thumbs up to Billy's motors. I've been beating the crap outta this 5.3 to 5.7 forged motor (stock crank). Couldn't be happier. I'm actually considering getting a 408 myself.
