02 z71 suburban 4x4. lifted, rolling on 35 inch mudtires. engine is the stock 5.3. only mod is k&n in factory box. motor has 98k showing on the odometer. this weekend, i am getting an 05 LQ9 engine installed. we are also doing a cai, exhaust, and nelson high performance tune. new motor has 15k miles. im starting to get cold feet, maybe due to the cost, but im wondering how much noticable diffrence i will feel with the new set up. im hoping it will be really noticable. im scared it isnt going to produce the results i want for the money im spending.

The price may be a little high for a used LQ9 installation but I think you'll be happy with the power difference. The torque numbers you'll be putting down are going to help you tremendously in the lifted 4x4 application. I would think gears in the 4.56/4.88 range would be much better for your application, too.

I agree with Red. I would look into gears also.
