I finally got my ass to the track tonight, i messed up the staging a couple of times but was getting the hang of it after 4 runs, the track was busy! My first 2 runs netted a 13.6 @ 101.8 MPH. These were done with a 4x4 launch. the next run the tree was off, and my last run i just tryed mashing it off the line in 2 wheel drive, which netted a disapointing 14.1 @ 100 mph. These runs are at 8 Psi. i want to have Allen retune me for 10 psi and hopefully with that a better launch i will be around 13 sec !! Its hard trying to build boost off the line, i have the brake to the floor as well as the gas and just cant seem to build boost from a dig, The damn truck wants to keep pulling well past the 1/4 mile but its time to let off. Let me know what you guys think. i am happy that my heavy pig on 8 lbs does run great.but we all want more!

wow man 13.6 is a damn good time. thats so wierd that two wheel drive launches just kill your times. what were the differences in 60ft times with the 2wd launch and the 4wd launch?

I'll have to check my slips, but i remember in 4x4 i had a 60 ft of 2.1. i have to look at my slip of the 2 wheel run..... As for the 2 wheel launch, i didnt really stall it up for fear of just spinning as i left the line, maybe i should have tried to stall her a little more but theres always nextime.

Great time! I knew that heavy pig would fly With more track time you'll improve on them. Guarantee it. Dunno about the STS but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say forget 2wd launches. 4WD, get it staged, drop it to neutral, rev it a little bit while holding the brake, (nets you more braking power), let the revs settle back to idle and put it back in drive. Now stall it until it won't hold it any more. Mash it on the 3rd yellow. This is what nets me my best 60's anyway.

thanks for tips roger and others! i'll wait till i get my 10 psi tune and go back for more fun. It really is a great time at the track, lots of nice folks but surprising what some people are racing! I saw a 1985 blue olds 4 door and a 1987 s-10 with a four cylinder!

TimZ - you the man!! Dang, its really good to see such good times with our trucks. I'm sure low 13s and maybe a high 12 once you get the launches are possible....and all that power pushing through a 5.3Ltr is pretty amazing.
