ok all I finally got to the track first time in the 68 with the 5.3
anyway it is a stock 5.3 Nelson tuned CAI shift kit and a TB converter 3.73 one wheel wonder with older tires but Traction wasnt bad on a couple of them
4 runs and all very consistent
2.19 60 ft
9.39 at 75 MPH 1/8th
12.28 at 83 MPH 1000 ft
14.62 at 90 MPH 1/4

anyway I dont know what I expected how do the times look? It felt great upto the 18th or so but then I needed more (but dont we all)

How do these times vs. speed look I am very new at this I really need that cam now, my buddy took his 68 Camaro and we had a blast we will be back it is fairly close to home it is a short track the big guys run the 1/8 only

oh yea I just left the truck in drive and held on, since I was new at it I just let the truck do its thing

Good 1/8 mi numbers! Yeah, let the computer shift for you, that will save you valve train damage.

Do they let you run the full 1/4 for time onlys and then race the 1/8 or what, I don't quite understand. Yeah those times look pretty dam good to me. Yeah that's what I do too, is just put it in drive and punch it, the computer will shift it perfect every time. If I had a ratchet shifter or something I might try to shift it myself but the column shifter is just too easy to screw up with.

this was all test and tune so they let us "slower" guys run the full quarter but at some point the faster (not sure the times or speeds) they only run for the 1/8th atleast that is what I understand.
When I said it was short there is not much slow down length at the end.

Thanks I didnt know how the times looked I mainly staged against my buddy we looked cool (I am sure) running together his 68 camaro and my 68 SWB chevy I usually had him till the 1000 foot then he would get me.
It was fun now to figure out how to get into the 13's

well if you do the math on the 1/8 mile then it should of been 14.74 so your picking up speed in the topend.

Nice times for a stock motor and 2500 stall with tune.

my rcsb went 15.56 two years ago stock.

wow Kevin, give me a couple years a few cam changes and maybe I will be in the 12's.
It ran nice and smooth, I wasnt sure on all my driveline angles everything looked good from the measurements but I was still unsure
I do want to get into the 13's and 100 MPH. Sounds obtainable at this point.
I will try it again and maybe do a cam swap over the winter (maybe sooner
