Truck wont start (Click..Click)

Need some help here.

Over the past few weeks I have been having some starting issues. The truck has been harder and harder to start and the engine would slowly turn over, and in time would finally fire up. At first I figured my cables were loose and upon inspection, did infact find a corroded and loose positive connection.

Well today the truck wouldnt even start. All the truck does is click once and thats it. The gauges on the instrument cluster (temp will bury out up top and volts will bottom out when I try and start it) I just replaced the side terminals and cleaned off the cables really well and I still have the same issue. Any ideas?

Is the starter going south on me? I wanna check the connections on the starter and looked real quick and couldnt even see where they went to. Is there any pics out there someone can link to help me out.

Dead battery? Turn on the headlights and try the starter. If the headlights go dim your battery is shot. If you live in TX where we just had two days of 100 degree weather and now you have this problem, I would look towards the battery again. Have it tested before you replace it. Otherwise, I'd have to guess starter is out.

The easiest way to look at and check the starter conections is thru the pass. side wheel well. You might have to jack it up a little on that side but it is right in clear view and super easy to get at there. I have a 94 bravada and just got rid of an 89 blazer.

I really hated replacing the starter on my 94 4x4 blazer. It sucked.

Thanks for the insight...Ill give it a looksie. Didnt get a chance yesterday due to me helping a buddy drop his tranny ina 96VR-4....now I know why I wanna sell mine

After working on a VR4 I would think you'd be glad you had what you have. Those are expensive pieces of crap. Over $300 for a rebuilt alternator from Autozone? Hell NO!!! I test drove one for an hour and was glad to get back to my old truck.

Well got the starter replaced and she fires up oh so quickly now with little effort

As far as the VR-4, we got the AWD tranny dropped and ready to be sent out for building. I have a 91 Dodge Stealth TT and a 93 3000gt VR4 and yes they are a PITA to work on. If you ever get a chance to take a ride in a modded on, jump in. These cars are an absolute blast to drive, but unfortunatley parts (transmission/t cases) are hard to come by and VERY expensive as you noted on just the alternator alone.
