along with big power comes broken parts. i blew my transmission without any power adder at only 40,000 miles and tore the rear end out of a 4cyl nissan pickup. the motor was probably due to tuning issues and the factory posi (g80) is known to be pretty weak. gotta pay to play.

totally not STS's fault. sts is probably easier on the drivetrain than superchargers due to the little bit of lag instead of instant boost.

old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

When you put that much tq out then you wil be breaking things sooner or later, like said above, you play you pay. That is part of it.A 60E tranny nor a G80 is gonna handle that much hp and tq that long,it does not suprise me one bit that that tranny and G80 let go.

I'm totally shocked. GM parts are indestructable! No matter how fast you wanna go. They are built by GM to take at least 1000 hp. I'm runnin 125 lbs of boost and no probs. :laugh

We need to ask some questions first.
How much boost was he running? I know those switches were not dummy switches. Nitros? How many mlses. on the truck before install? It looks like he had his foot in it alot? I could be wrong. I am not saying that the truck will handle it, but you can only go so far on stock components. I have an STS turbo, and it works fine. I do not put my foot in it all the time and I do think they are a quality product.
I wonder if he got it tuned by Allen Nelson? I bet not.

Hmmm.....
Didn't toast my tranny. Not to far away when I replaced. 5.3 still runs fine but sounds bad. Newish 6.0 in the garage. I think that by using 4wd when I am seriously launching and ZERO traction when I don't is saving the drive shaft and rear end. Time will tell. Only 45k on the odometer.
