im getting the 2/4 drop with 20's in a month or two, and i was reading GMFS forum and alot of them were saying doetsch shocks are a good buy. i think i only need ones for the rear. does anyone have any suggestions on shocks for the rear for my setup?

also, what exactly is involved in 'notching' the frame? i dont think i have to do it for the 2/4 drop im looking for. but how does that work?

With 2/4 drop you will not need to notch the frame. When you notch the frame you have to mark and cut a section out of the frame above the rear axle and bolt in a pre fabed insert. The reason this is done is for the axle travel. If I'm not mistaken it is only needed if you drop the back 6 inches or more. I have never run doetsch shocks nor have I heard anything about them. I have always run either Belltech or KYBs. Both of them are good shocks. I think you will be happy with a 2/4 and 20s. I had the same set up on my 99 and loved the look. Post some when you get it done.

I have a 4" drop in my 93 and it needs the notch when the truck bed is loaded down. I hit the bump stops quite often.

I wish a standard airbag kit would fit under mine. 285s tucked inside the fenders just barely clear the springs. A standard airbag kit bolts the bags on top of the springs behind the axle. I test fit a set on there and it won't fit at all. I would have to do a custom bag setup inside the frame rails. I have collected all the parts and pieces, just need some time to install it all. Maybe once all the engine work is complete I'll do it while I'm up under the rear installing the Auburn LSD.

I've heard of them, just never used them. I have run Belltech and Toxics. Toxics are Rancho shocks under a different brand. I buy the Toxics from 4wheelparts for $129 for all four corners. Last time they threw in a steering stabilizer shock for free. Like I'll ever need that!

I have a 4/6 on my truck and don't have any problems with it bottoming out. Oh yea, I cant drive it because it dosent have a motor yet. When I get in from offshore I will take a picture of the notch on my truck and try to post it. Shouldn't be that hard since the bed isn't bolted down yet either.
