Drive it the way you plan to drive it in the future. If you baby it during break in some say it will more likely die a premature death later when you mistreat it.

Simply turn the engine over until you get oil pressure. Then hook up the whatever you decided to remove so it wouldn't start, then start it up.
Let it warm up, take it easy, a few half throttle runs, if everything seems right, no noises, leaks, go ahead and get on it. Make sure there isn't any pinging or a lean condition and you're good to go.
That's the way it's done.
good luck,
allen

When we have a motor built, we flog the crap out of it at the dyno after driving it about 30 miles. Even out engine builder said its fine.

Oh yeah, I forgot about initial startup. I always leave the plugs out and crank the engine until I have oil pressure reading at the guage. Also be sure you prefill the oil filter before installing it. As for an oil pump, the LS2 pump puts out 20% more than a LS1/LS6 pump and Lingenfelter even recommends that pump for the aftermarket crankshafts now. The pn is 12571885 if interested. $72.72
Don't be a dumbass like me and install the engine in the truck with the filter installed and then dent it and end up killing your engine!![]()

Make sure to run normal castrol oil in it so your rings break in good and I would change the oil after say 1000 miles just to make sure the engines clean. Good luck with it...Originally posted by 1slow01z71@Dec 13 2005, 10:24 PM

Going to run some regular oil with EOS the ring breakin shit that you can get from GM. Then change it after 50-100 miles then change it at 500 then at 1000 to Royal Purple I know its a bit over board but I spent too much money to screw it up over a damn oil change IMO.
