ok i know this question is going to be vague. but a buddy of mine bought this msd box, or maybe it was a small coil . it was a small cylinder. but it wasnt one of those huge boxes. im real confused at what it was, bc im still looking at small things to do, and he said buying that msd part is a good buy. can anyone help, or kind of know what im talking about?

also, what else can i do to my truck...

heres what ive done..
-intake
-throttlebody spacer
-msdwires
-royal purple through the engine, transmission and rearend
-gibson headers
-magnaflow cats
-super 40 exhaust

heres what i want to do, but since im not keeping the truck for another couple of years, id rather not
-cam it
-change the gears.

what else can i do? im prolly gonna save up for mass air flow sensor. any suggestions?

Dont do the MAF, the aftermarket and descreened ones are nothing but expensive paperweights. Keep the stock one, it outflows your intake and throttle body and isnt restricting anything. You also want to keep your screen so the airflow is smooth and the computer can accurately read it.

You could get a custom tune. That will be the best bang for your buck. Allen Nelson is a badass tuner, he'll set you up with a good one.

yeah i agree on the custom tune go to nelsonperformance.com the MAF i have one and i did notice a gain but thats just my truck i guess lol also on the MSD you would have to buy every individual coil and at 65.00 a piece thats expensive as shit you could spend that money on somethin else like LS1 fans and a tune

If you don't have a limited slip differential and can afford one, I'd do that for traction. It makes the truck a little squirrelly on wet pavement since both tires spin but the rest of the time it's definitely a good upgrade. You can buy a new one or go salvage scrounging for one out of an Impala or Caprice since they have a 8.5/8.625 rear end also. I got mine for $100 out of a car with only 20,000 miles on it. GM had Auburn LSDs put in some of them.

ive kinda read up on tuning it. but what exactly do they do? and how much does it usually run? also, on getting a limited slip, does that have any effect on gas mileage or anything?

LSD doesn't hurt the gas mileage. It's also better on tires since you don't peg-leg when accelerating, putting all the wear on the right rear tire normally.

And the government keeps trying to tell us that LSD is bad on the brain, thanks for straightening that out Redheartbeat!!! And then to find out that LSD is helpful??? You blow my world away!!!

I write that in jest as everytime I see LSD my mind goes back to the drug class in middle school....
