I have a set of comp performance lifters and I want to make sure that they are good how do you test them without putting them in the engine and going damn its knocking. I can test the lifters to make sure the spring is still good but is there anything else I can do.

yeah i was wondering the same thing, I want to make sure mine are still good. I am pretty sure my ticking is coming from the intake valves being too short, the Z06 cam has a smaller base circle so I need the longer intake valves before I can get rid of the ticking.

Did you measure the base circle before installing the cam? What you need if it has a smaller base circle is longer push rods. Comp usually grinds theirs .05 undersize to clear the lobes to the bearings during install. You would need .025 longer, 7.425, to get the geometry back to stock with their cam.

I think when I put the 408 in it Im just going to go ahead and put a set of crane gold roller rockers onit and that should cure the too short pushrod problem. Thanks for the link to the article good info.

Yeah its a good rundown of the gen III's. I am about to get some comp cams pushrods, just dont know what size yet. When my motor goes I will more than likely either go for the LS6 or 2. I really dont think I will be going turbo, just want a lil bigger than I have now in the 5.3L.
