I've been cheating on y'all. Spent my weekend competing in a BBQ cookoff. Cooked pinto beans, chicken, sausage that came unseasoned and we had to season and cook it, ribs and brisket. It was fun since I think I was the only person there cooking in an upright backyard cooker that cost under $100, most others were in the $2000+ range up to over $10,000. I didn't make the table on anything but sausage where I got 9th place out of 83 competitors. Won a mug and $75, registration fee for the contest. Everyone around my camp loved my beans but thought they might have been too spicy/hot for the judges or they thought I'd easily may the top 20 at least. Sampled the winners and they all were sweet rather than spicy at all? This was my first time to try this, a guy at work talked me into it.
BTW, anyone in the WinStar Casino area, they are having a contest in a couple weeks and for $5 its all you can eat.
