Good choice. Nobody manufactures better heads than AFR, IMO. Their heads have a thicker deck to handle NO2 and blower applications. You can get almost any size compression dome you desire. They have different size valves and porting styles available for your application. For the money they are definitely a good value. Their heads flow better than most porting company's, also.

Unless you're going all out, some polished 6.0 heads (big chamber, diff cast... sand vs SPM LS6) with LS6 valves would be fine... They flow excellent stock.

I do not think you'll see enough gains to warrant the cost of the AFRs on a bolt-on or N/A application. Gen III heads just are great stock, so it's hard to improve upon a good item already.

A member of the GTO comm. did a AFR head swap only and picked up 40tq/50hp.

Check out this thread for reference.

Yeah, $2300 sounds pretty pricey to pick up only 50hp when for $4000 you can bolt on an STS and pick up over 200 hp. They're still some awesome heads.

How much boost is needed to make 200hp+ w/ the STS? Is this the standard deal or with an upgrade it is capable of 200hp+?

Remember that's AFR over the LS1 cast, not the LS6/6.0 ones...
