Well..my truck is not my daily driver anymore. I bought a little beater to drive to back and forth to work and school...93 Toyota Trecel....300bucks...35mpg couldnt pass it up. So heres my deal. The truck is going to be parked in garage so now I can play with it. Since I have decided to stick with the 5.3 for now the first thing in order is heads and cam. I know they can do wonders with these heads and I was curious as to whats a better deal. Have the head work done or just look int buying new heads. And along with that, a new cam. WHat kind of grind should i look at to give me some bottom end grunt...a good top end but keep the driveability. Gas mileage isnt a huge factor since its gonna be a weekend truck now. But any advice on the heads, cam, springs and rods would be greatly appreciated.....

    Sorry about the length....

Screw the H/C kit. Go STS and enjoy some real power. The H/C won't give you any gains like the turbo or a Radix.

I think the best heads and cams out there right now for the money are the ones from Patriot. Their stage two will get around 100hp, but to be honest with you I rather get the STS turbo. 120HP out of just 5 PSI is untouchable. True is about 3500 hundred but thats better than most blowers that run around 5 grand. It comes down to whatever you can afford.
    Had a 91 SB, Open diff, 3.08 gears, stock LS1/T56. 14.8@95.9...sold.
    Now, 90 C1500 350tbi/NV3500....just bought a 5.3...need T56, Swap parts.....

The nice thing about the STS system is you don't throw your gas mileage and driveability out the window for the extra HP. I still think it would be hard to keep you foot off the gas!

I love forced induction but at the same time I want all motor. I know these motors and the 6.0's have some crazy potential and I also know forced induction is the best bang for the buck. But call me crazy theres just something about havin something crazy and be all motor. I dont know, I still need to do a little more thinking about what I really want....we'll see I guess..

THere is just something about the scream of a blower or turbo. I hear one and just go WOW!!! It's tame too. Talk about a sleeper. An easy way to make a few bucks on the side at the track too if you buy the dual stage turbo setup. Let them see you make a few passes at 5 lbs, lay your money down and then crank up the boost.
