My 1/4 Time (Good/Bad for Mods?)

Alright, I got an extended cab 5.3L Sierra, It has 3 inch exhaust piping, no cats, Magnaflow Muffler, K&N CAI, and a Hypertech Tune.

I had some BFGoodrich All Terrain tires in the back, and the tailgate off.

I ran a constant 15.1, is that where I'm supposed to be? My friend tells my I should easily be in the high 14's. I do believe him and one of the reasons is, something is probably wrong with my tranny, once it shifts into second gear, it bogs down badly, the RPM's drop down to about 3-4k, not sure.

Good times man. Ditch the hypertech tho. Get a real tune and bust 14s all day.

I'd say that's about right. Actually that's pretty good for a extended cab, and I'm assuming 4wd, with the mods you have. Get a real tune and it'll really wake it up.

It's a 2wd, and I'm actually looking to get a couple more bolt ons and then get a real tune, so I wouldn't have to re-tune it after each bolt on. Looking for some new headers, TB Spacer, and an E-Fan from an 07 Silverado. The only real Perfomance shop I can think of in my area is Thunder Racing and they supposedly specialize in LS motors. I'm really looking forward to hitting mid 14's. The truck just hit 150k Miles, and was wondering if it had too much mileage for a cam to be put in?

Tb spacer is a waste of money, the reason your trans bogs down is you need a stall converter do some reading look at some garages and you'll learn

It might be that the tune is setup to lock the converter in 2nd gear. When going WOT there is no need to lock the convertor until a specific speed is reached in 3rd, dependant upon gearing and tire size.

Yeah a lot of guys come on here and ask about cams when they finish the bolt ons, but you will see better gains in the 1/4 and fun to driveness with a higher stalling torque converter. Lots of guys like the Circle D unit, I run a 5 speed so I can't tell you from personal experience.

Forget the TB spacer. Waste of money. Money that can be spent in far better ways. The stall with wake it up a great bit. Thunder Racing is a pretty good selling place. I personally will never mess with them again.... LONG story. You got alot of members down there who can do swaps. If you pay for beer you may get lucky to have a weekend project instead of selling your left arm to thunder racing to do it for you

What are their prices, and what would be the best stall?

Now if only I was old enough to buy beer! Haha

Only reason I mentioned the place was for the tune, not really experienced in that area. I pretty much do everything by myself besides welding (Have a buddy that owns a shop and hooks me up).

Nelson or wheatley have a pretty easy to use mail order tuning systems. Id pick them far over thunder racing. They wanted 400 bucks to tune my truck when I first got it. Which wouldnt be that bad price except the truck had a tune from THEM on it. All I wanted them to do was reset the speedo. Thats only half my issues with them.
