'04 Silverado 4.3 to 5.3 swap Help needed please.......

Ok so last night me n my buddy were finishing up his swap on his silverado. This morning he got to finish putiing fluids and double checking everyhting. i told him he might need to do the ECM relearn procedure for his truck. He did the relearn procedure 3 times like recommended and still won't run. will he have to take it to dealer? any thing else different with this year?

Everything is connected except for the oxygen sensors. He used his stock computer and went to go get it reflashed with my other buddys '04 5.3 sierra vin.....

The only swap i've done is mine which is an '02 and someone elses which was an '01, both started on first try after priming system

Get a PCM tuned by nelson performance. He'll load the proper tune into it and disable the VATS/PASSKEY so the truck will run. Also, get a fuel pressure gage and verify that there is solid fuel pressure. You can also check that the injectors are firing by purchasing an injector "NOID" light that plugs into an injector connector and you can see it light up as it pulse the injector during the starting attempts. The dealer isn't going to work on his truck since he did a retrofit engine into it, most won't.

PCM's gotta be flashed with the same VIN as the truck too.

Can't be done when swapping from V6 to V8 because part of the VIN tells the PCM what engine is in the vehicle. You should know better.

Alright i figured dealers prolly won't and will charge up the ass. i kno a few at the dealer so i'll ask and see if they can do anything. Yea i told him to go ahead and get a tune put on, so that way they can change it to a v8 file, didnt think about the VATS it pulls up. its not even sending spark to plugs. he checked fuel pressure its fine.
    Thanks for info man

how is that? when theres people that get a complete engine, harness, and computer from junkyard and put it in another vehicle and works fine. just as long as you have a file for that motor and right color connectors

don't matter. when i did my swap my truck was an 02. i got a vin from a buddys dad '00 silverado with 5.3. took it to oreillys to have it reprogrammed with that '00 vin. put it in my truck and started right up. the truck don't car what vin it is as long as their is a file for that motor so it'll run properly.

my buddy had an '04 sierra 5.3..... the swap i'm helping my other buddy do is an '04 silverado which now has a 5.3 i don't see how it wouldnt work. something is telling the POS not to start.
and oxygen sensors shouldnt have anything to do with it not turning over right? it just gives feedback on a/f coming from motor

and its pulling up a p0315 code which is a Crankshaft position (CKP) system variation values are not stored in the PCM memory
