    4.8 to 5.3 ?

So i was just lookin on the internet tryin for find the most powerful 4.8 out there but i stumbled over something. i was lookin on wikipedia and it said the bore on a 4.8 an a 5.3 is the same. but the 5.3 had a longer stroke. so dose this mean all you have to do to get a 5.3 it put a crank an some rods in it? here the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine

You're on the right track. You'd just need the 5.3 crank, rods and pistons. 5.3L uses dished pistons where the 4.8L uses flat-tops. I have heard of people using 4.8L pistons to up the compression on a 5.3L but I always wondered what it would do for valve clearance - especially with a higher-lift cam.

i would be more worried about piston pin placement and not the flat top issue. If the pin is in the same place then id run the 4.8 piston on a 5.3 rod, also crank and rods can be 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 ect...

Doesn't the L33 have the same part number pistons as the 4.8? Pretty sure they do, so the pin would be in the same place.
