    Hey guys,
i went to my local dealership that i used to work at yesterday and was pricing out crate engine...when low and behold i found a 6.0 Crate engine for $3500
I figured this was a great deal on the motor but wanted to post here before i spent all the money.
Can i keep my 4L60E tranny and what else do i need to install the motor? i believe it is just a direct swap plus get a reprogram from Nelson Tune...

any other comments please respond with words of wisdom...
    thanks

for 3500.00 it better include all accessories right?? if you have the money then a new engine cannot be replaced. it will be the best route to go. most will buy a used one and throw it in and run it. i am going to buy a used one and go thru it. but i have been told that there are some places that will sell newer ones for less. good luck. oh yay. it will eat that 60e eventually.

    that was a fast response,
i was just nosing around ebay and found a powerdyne supercharger kit for 2800...this seems like a steal if the powerdyne is any good...i know i can get a smaller pulley eventually to get more boost if needed...
i know that radix and procharger and STS turbo are real good but havent heard much about the powerdyne..
    any advice would be great..
also i am limited to spending around 3,000-3,500...

    thanks again

Yeh, if you only have 3K to 3500 to spend then I wouldn't got he motor route unless you have your own shop and are ready to buy a 4l80 in the future. It will definitely shred the 60. Haven't heard much about the powerdyne.

Stay away from powerdyne, my brother had one in his old truck and it was nothing but truble, lots of belt slip with the stock pulley, broke inner parts of the blower real quick and never did any real power. If you do a search youŽll find a lot more bad comments about it.

If you buy the 6.0 I'd recommend a cam swap too

    Good luck with your project.

    hey guys,
well yea i would be swapping the motor over myself with the help of some of my GM A-techs from work...
also i thought that the 4L80E takes all the power outta the 6.0? is there another tranny alternative to it?
i have warranty on my 4l60e for another 15,000 miles

what else could i do to get engine swap/supercharger type results?

There is the 4L65E which is mated up to the 6.0 HO motors in the SS and I believe the VHO also. It is a little stronger than the 4L60E.

If ya wanna go a step back in technology go to a 200-4R... I recommeded that to bud8fan. Trans is WAY better than any 60E could ever be.
