I was wondering what would keep causing this code to come up when the temp drops below 20 deg, It never comes on in the summer, just the winter

That code is fuel trim lean bank number 1. You could be running lean due to water in the fuel, icing over in the fuel manifold line near the injectors.

P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1)

    Condition:
When air fuel ratio feedback is stable after engine warm up, fuel trim is considerably in error on the RICH side (2 trip detection logic)

    Trouble Area:
    Air Induction System Leak
    Injector Blockage
    Mass Air Flow Meter
    Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
    Fuel Pressure
Gas Leakage from the Exhaust System
Open or Short in the Oxygen Sensor or associated wiring
    Oxygen Sensor Defective
    Engine Control Unit

I am really good at finding resources on the web to answer questions plus I have a pretty good collection of manuals. I like to help because one day I may have to ask a question myself, such as when my transmission wouldn't shift into third while under hard acceleration......bad program in the PCM.

Well thanks for the info. Everything will help forsure. I just want to get this problem fixed because it only comes on in the winter and i have taken it into dealerships and they still havent fixed it so I want to try and solve it myself. Its a weird problem because it was coming on before I got my intake when the truck was stock.
