    iron block

can you weld a iron block? there is a crack in the side of the block, by the head bolt threads. it was from not getting all the coolent out of the theads. I dont know if it is cracked in the water jacket, it is not running or in the truck. let me know if it can be welded or a way to check for leaks. I hope i am not SOL!

lol, I've done that on an aluminum block. I JB welded mine shut so it doesn't leak anything out the crack. Clean it up really good and spray it down with carb cleaner and then slather the JB Weld over it is what I did. Mine actually popped a piece of aluminum out and I used the JB Weld to bond it back together and then sealed it.
