tried that , i get more valvetrain noise as it warms upand loses pressure . i was thinking mabe it needs a new pick up tube o ring or the mains being worn has and causing low oil pressure.

I wonder if it's overheating and not reporting it. Sounds like the oil is thinning out severely. Do you have access to a infrared heat gun so you can get some external measurements? What oil pressure reading are you getting at cold start versus when it warms up?

cold i get around 60 psi and goes down from there . it gets so low the warnig light comes on . the lifters will tick bad ,the i can cut it off and let it sit for a minute or two, then start it and the pressure will come up to 40psi and goes down to nothing . it takes about 5 mintues for the pressure to to be at 0.

Have you tried swapping to a new oil filter?

You can try and replace the oring and see if thats the issue, it is pretty easy to do. You could have an issue with a failing oil pump relief valve. It's good to see you have good pressure at startup.

You could do what I did, take the oil cooler return cover, located just above the oil filter, and make an aluminum test block off plate to stop oil from going through the engine. Drill a hole in the block off plate to line up with the forward hole. Tap the cover and put a manual oil pressure gauge in the hole. Start the engine and let it run for about 5 seconds while you monitor the oil pressure and then shut if off. I'd put the test plate in after the engine is hot/warm when the oil pressure has died. If you deadhead the oil and the pressure is still low then you have a pump or oring issue.
