    ice guard as sound deadener?

just curious if any body has used ice guard (a leak barrier used on first 3' of roofs) as a sound deadener.
some brands of it are junk that dont stick and are more of a tar paper material but i found one that doesnt have any grit on it and has very good adhesive. its about a 1/16" thick but you can get a 200 square foot roll for $80 which means you could buy 2 rolls and layer it up to a 1/4" or thicker for only $160. its comes rolled up 3' wide and has thing plastic that you pull off of the adhesive part.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. All dynamat is really, is rubber with foil or just plain rubber mat, kinda.

As long as there is no asphalt is should be fine. Asphalt will stink terribly.

i used it in my truck and it worked very well. i used 1/4" torch down roofing rubber on the floors and the foil backed stuff on upright surfaces. I did it for next to nothing, if you go to a roofing supplier you can find a damaged roll of the stick on sometimes and they will discount it heavy. i paid 15.00 for a full roll with a dent on one end.

it smelled like a rubber roof for about a week but i just kept the windows cracked and it went away, that was the only downside to it. i had 2 12" subs in a bandpass box that would just about shake the rear view mirror off the windshield. outside with the truck sealed it sounded like a stock system jamming, when you opened the doors it was like a rock concert that you could hear for blocks.

this should work.me and my buddy used this under his metal roof on his farm house just above the 3 bedrooms no when it rains you cant even hear the rain tingin of the metal.much easier to sleep.he had a metal roof before and hated when it rained.i know owens corning didnt have ashphalt or grit on it but i live in ohio, and the weather up hear sucks so their may be a different product design for your region.
Nothing stock...I either broke it or replaced it before I broke it!!

Where can I purchase some of this ice guard you speak of? I need some sound deadening and would like to try a cheaper alternative, I forgot how noisy it can be when you are closer to the road.
