Just bought a 2000 SilveradoLS. Has a temp/compass mirror. Truck did not come with a manual. I think the display is flakey. If i hit temp or compass, both displays come on. Each will not come on separately. Also, a little light that says "cal" comes on, and it goes trough n,s,e,w. Is it self calibrating? Any ideas, links or posts that explain user options or operation is appreciated!

I don't think you can view just one, they both always display. As far as calibrating, i'll go check my manual and get back to you, they're not self-calibrating. The calibration options depend on what part of the country you are in. Which state do you live in?

to calibrate it don't you just drive around and around in circles a few times?

my manuel for my 2004 says that you can press and hold the COMP button for 8 sec. or until CAL is displayed on the mirror...and the compass can be calibrated by driving the vehicle in circles at 5mph or 8 Km/h or less until the display reads a direction.

If you hold down the COMP button for three seconds and it should start cycling through numbers. Let off when it gets to 5. That is the zone Arizone is in. Then you should just have to drive in circles to get it calibrated like the others mentioned.
