Question 02 Corvette LS1 engine into 1998 2 door tahoe!!!!!!

i have a 1998 chevrolet 2 door 2wd tahoe, and i have a friend that has an 02 corvette ls1 engine w/ 25,000 miles with no intake, no alt, no compressor. i was wondering if anyone can tell me what all is needed to install in the tahoe. he said it had a dry sump oil pan and he thought it wouldn't work in the tahoe, but thats all i know about it. PLEASE HELP!!!! i am very anxious to install this engine in my truck. thank you very much for the time.

It will fit but you have to get a truck or Fbody pan, windage tray and pickup tube plus round up all the other missing parts. You're basically doing an OBS to LSx swap. You'll need a wiring harness, PCM, tune and all the other good stuff associated with a swap. Sounds like a great engine to start with. Does it have the accessories with it? You'll need an LSx starter to go with it, too.

have you heard of howell engine developments? they said they had a whole harness kit to plug up in minutes for $750 and a computer for 200 with core or 350 without core. what is a tune? what other good stuff would i need. the only thing i has is the water pump and thermostat housing and original oil pan with heads and new valve covers. no intake or alt, or compressor, etc. i don't know much about engine swaps or parts involved. your help is very much appreciated. i would like to own a tahoe with a corvette engine. alot of people around my town have trucks with a few performance bolt on parts and they tend to put the corvette symbols on their vehicles. i want to show them what a real truck with a real corvette engine would run like. thanks for the help.

Harness is priced about right. You're going to have to have the PCM (computer) set to work the the Tahoe. That's what a tune is. Now, Nelson performance will tune your vehicle for you and can build a harness at the same time. They've done tons of swaps into the OBS you're talking about doing. You're going to need all the front accessories that you don't have. You also have multiple options on intakes. You can do the Vette/F-Body intake, the truck intake, the LS2 intake, or the TBSS intake. It's all up to you and what you buy. We can help you get each of them to work.

as far as the intakes go. which is better or whats the difference in the 3? is it price? is it performance? is it compatability? i tell myself, if i am spending some money, i might as well get the best setup if its a few hundred dollars different. which would ya'll do?

Your going to want to base your intake on your over all goal. The best for one person is not always best for the next.
