    heads

i couldnt find a thread about this. my 99 has a 5.3 that is getting ready for its new life. the local engine builder has a set of 243 heads ported and polished , valve job , and srings. these are off of a 6.0 so ive been told. the question is with the bigger valves willl they work on my 5.3 . i dont realy know why but i want to keep the 5.3. intake 2.02 and exhaust 1.64 is 3.68 my bore is only 3.78 which leaves .100 im not real sure of the valve spacing and dont want to buy them if they are not going to work

243 will work fine but I'm pretty sure they need to be miled to get factory compression. But 6.0s never came with 243, they came with 317s
Today 03:25 am 6 stringer o thats a good point, its ok ill just add a blinker fluid cooler
Today 03:24 AMtruckinL33 that's not a good place for it, you can overheat your blinker fluid with the capacitor
Today 03:23 AMtruckinL33 i need them for when i go back to 1985
Today 03:23 AM6stringer i mounted my flux capacitor next to my blinker fluid resevoir
Today 03:22 AMtruckinL33 me too, right next to my flux compasator!
Today 03:22 AM6stringer hey gear oil needs to be cooled, i have front and rear diff coolers

The 243s were on the GTO and Corvette LS2 6.0L engines.

Yes, and they also came on the LS6 5.7 litre engines. Which were the first engines to have them, from GM.

Greg and ^^ this guy are right!

honestly the 862's flow great already... however if i were going to pay 450 for P&P of the 862's or 450 for the P&P'd 317s i would take the 317's any day... just mill them down some to get the comp back up and it will work great!
