Harness Compatibility from 2004+ to a 2001 6.0L

Hey all -

I scored a harness from a 2004 5.3 the other day and ran into a few issues. It's a clean, sealed harness in very good shape, but wonder about the backward compatibility to my '01 6.0l.

Most of the sensors plug in just fine, except the injectors. The injector plugs fit on the injectors, but don't lock into place with the little tab you push to lock it. Any advice? Is it possible to get new injector locking connectors with ease?

The other problem I ran into is on the back of the engine. Just north of the flywheel/flexplate, there is a black sensor that is about 4 inches tall by about 2 inches in diameter. It looks like there are 3 or 4 wires in it, and it seems to point to something in the engine vertically. What is this? Is it critical? Does it matter that there isn't a provision for this in the harness?

I have 2004 stock injectors if you need them.

Are you talking about the cam or the oil pressure sensor? Honestly I don't know of any sensors being 2" in diameter other than the knock sensors. The cam sensor is dead center in the middle of the block behind the intake. The oil sensor is towards the drivers side of the block adjacent to the cam sensor. Your biggest issues will be getting the drive by cable throttle body wired into the drive by wire harness configuration. You have to have the IAC and TPS sensors wired into the harness correctly. It can be done but is intimidating to most novices. Its usually easier to swap for a harness that was made for the earlier engines.

As for the rest of the engine, it's a mechanical throttle body, so that part should be pretty easy.

It's the injector connections that are still screwy, as in they don't lock down and pull out fairly easily. Does anyone make the connectors that I could just buy 8 of them and then replace?

that tall black cylindrical part is the oil pressure sending unit.
