From what I have seen and read, Spectra is just as good as K&N. They sale them at Autozone. I think they are cheaper, because they are new and are mass produced for the autoparts stores. Heck try it and at a later time just replace the filter with a K&N if you want too. I mean you will have the main part being the tube and heat shield. Now I do not know if anyone else has had the same problem as I have, but I ended up putting a Dry Charger filter over the top of my open K&N cone filter. The water and other nasties that came by the headlight and other truck parts dissolved the oil off the filter. So I added the Dry Charger which is just a really fine nylon mess netting with an elastic band around each end to seal the K&N cone filter. It basically water proofs the filter from the water from getting onto the oily filter. I do not know if you can get a Dry Charger that will fit the Spectra filter, but the Dry Charge comes in different sizes too. Another reason I think the others are higher in price is basically, because you are paying for the name...

Good to know that 2004RST. It could just be a starter filter and like I said you have the main part: tube, heat shield and the rubber connectors...
How do you like the JBA Shorties? Worth the money or would you recommend he LongTubes? Sorry I am not try to highjack the thread, just a simple ? is all.

I'm cheap too so I bought a smooth transition tube and couplers made by Airaid off eBay for $100 and a K&N drop in.

Thats the way I will do it next time since I am married now and really have no Denaros. I have been eyeing an air tube on a package car truck that has a 6L in it. If I can get my hands on it, then I will modify it to work on my parent's Avalanche. I just got to wait for one to be wrecked bad enough to be taken off the road.
