Hello everyone! I'm a long time gear head, and this is going to sound bad, but I'm just now getting around to having a cool/custom ride. I had a '67 Pontiac Tempest in high school but I never really did anything to it other then burn the tires off. Got rid of it thinking it would be okay because I would have my dream car, a blue '78 Trans Am within 2 or 3 years tops. Well, you know how life can go and just flat out laugh at your plans. Things have been slowly getting better this last year though (although I feel bad that it isn't for so many others) and I got a big shock right before Thanksgiving. My Dad drove out for the first time in like 4 years without letting me know he was coming and gave me his truck as a early Christmas gift! The only catch was I had to get rid of my '85 4x4 that they were tired of hearing about me pouring money into. Ever since I got rid of my Pontiac I've missed not so much it but the memory's of working on it with him. Well after about a month of driving it and it starting to fell like it was really mine, I realized I don't need a Trans Am, Nova, or any of my other dream cars. I can build my truck to be fun as hell and have a vehicle I can take to shows, use as a daily driver, still haul stuff with it, and even race it. I never really thought about doing a truck like this before because were I grew up the only trucks that people played with were long bed 4x4's. The biggest thing, since he gave it to me and he had it for over 5 years, I feel like that bond we had in the old Pontiac has be found again. In the last month I've changed the brake and third brake lights to smoked red LED's and I've also changed the tag, reverse, dome, and map lights to LED bulbs, had the windows tinted to 15% and changed out the head unit. On my days off this week I plan on swapping the door speakers and if I have time the ones by the rear window as well. I'm taking off work Friday the 15th to run it down the track and get some base line numbers that way what ever I decide to bolt on later can be compared to the base run and I'll have a good idea of how much it helped.
