Absolutely, its a must-have item to make the engine run properly.

Here's a post with some wiring diagrams.. http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/lsx-t...-diagrams.html

You really need a 40 pulse per revolution output. Dakota Digital sells some output modules.

i just put a 5.3 4l60 into my 90 yj, had to use an adpt from V8 conversion manuals, parts for V8 S10, Datzun Z, Jaguar, Chevy TPI & TBI, Colorado, Astro Van V8, Volvo 200 & 700 the have the adpt that goes between the trany and the transfercase, also sell the sensor that you need, it works really well, and very easy install. the sensor screws into the adpt. there number is 1-925-462-3619 if you call them they can explain to you what you need and what they have, they were very helpfull to me,

The multiplier from dakota digital won't work. I went in there and talked to them and they said that the most you could get up to was like 36. I got the one from jags that run because they are the only company that I found that makes this work which is unfortunate because they suck to work with. Couldn't you just tune your computer to think that it is running a manual trans? I am probably way wrong however. ha

Vss for shift points, or the tranny will mechanicaly shift=clunk. PLus other sensors see things moving but not your speed so the engine will stall out. My wrangler did that when the mechanical speed sensor wasn't in all the way

It is on the transfer case right? So no, you can't tune it out.

No you do not. A VSS has nothing to do with engine operation.

It will run fine with exception of major shift issues and the MAP/MAF/VSS tables being screwed up.
