I am pretty new to the truck scene, and i was wondering how much it would cost to swap in a LS1 into a 02 Gmc Sierra. Currently i have a 4.8 and have decided on building a LS1 powered beast! I need all the help i can get thanks!

anyone?
not much, harness can be reused, mounts are fine, so no custom stuff involved. im pretty sure it can run on stock 4.8 tuning also.

The 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 all are LSx style engines they use the same platform. the only real major diff. is the rod length, bore, stroke, and or aluminum vs iron
it's an easy swap if you reuse your crank pulley, water pump, all accessories, intake, exhaust and wiring harness, pretty much leaving it a truck with an aluminum block.

How much extra hp can be expected from this swap?
If you don't already have the engine the most bang for the bucks will be a supercharger or turbo system and will be a lot less work. I considered a supercharger before I swapped to an LS1 and know I would have gotten more horses that way. You will gain about 50-65 hp going from a 4.8 to 5.7.
