    Angry Is It My Alternator??

    I need your help...My D.I.C sais battery not charging and the battery light comes on after start up and a few minutes of driving will the light and message come off. I think its the alternator my dad sais batter could it be both any help is appreciated..thanx...btw it is an 03 silverado with a 5.3

    Just remove the positive off your battery to see if the alt is dead (while the truck is running), I think thats a easy way to check if alt or battery.

    Just go to Walmart or Autozone and they will check it for you.

    NEVER take the battery cables off a running electronic fuel injected GM vehicle. My gosh...

    Please listen to Greg. If not, come see me....I'll check it for FREE to keep you from unhooking the battery while the key is on or the engine is running. I have a new Fluke and I have a Fluke amp probe.
