Why not go with the LS6 cam from the 2003 corvette? You can pick one up from GMPARTSDIRECT.COM for a lot less than the crane 265. Just $227.77 for it shipped to your door. PN 12565308

you can use the ls6 cam but it will lose a lot of low end. it will not start pulling till around 3000 or above. one of the f bod cams will be ok. they to will not pull very much down low. but they will alow you to raise the shift points and gain some top end.

    Thanks for the link...

    I thought and LS1 Y-car would be a vette, and a LS1 F-car would be a f-bod, but what is an LS1 V-car?

LS1 V car is the Holden, same thing we call the GTO now. IMO the LS1 cam in your 99 silvy is a nice swap for probally less than $100. You don't need a spring swap, the low end torque stays the same but you pick up alot on the top end. I would say with tuning this cam should decrease your 1/4 ET by 1 second or so. I say about $100 cause you can buy this cam for in the $30 range used and then the cost of other parts used in the swap might add up to the rest.

He's right ! I picked up a brand new LS1 cam out of a stock crate motor for 50 bucks. Then went to the stealership for the gasket set and new crank bolt and spent under 100 bucks total for the install. It lost just a little low end (could hardly tell unless pullin' a hill in O.D. it would have to downshift) but gained a little back with the tune(now pullin same hill only the TC unlocks). Before tune, truck would start to pull a little before the shift but after the tune with extened shifts it really pulls all the way to the shift at 6000!!!

    Awesome, thanks.

I doubt I'll get a 1 sec ET gain, but that would rock!

When you say you lost some low end.... is it really really noticable? As in you feel like you have to rev it like a rice burner to get the truck moving.

And you said no spring swap with the ls1 cam?

    Ever dyno it man?

The lowend loss isn't going to be huge on a stock cam except the LS6 cam. An '01 6.0/LS1 cam has a tighter LSA (better midrange power) over the higher lift '98-99 cams.

I'd probably get a lower lifted '01+ cam...
