    Head torque pattern?

I read the spec on how tight to tighten the bolts but is there any specific pattern to it?

See if I can do this without a picture....

10mm head bolts at the top of the head next to the intake manifold...
15mm bolts at center and bottom

    15 13 11 12 14 10mm heads valley cover area

    10 03 01 05 09 15mm heads in valvetrain area

    07 06 02 04 08 15mm heads exhaust side of block

Go in sequence from one to ten and torque to 22 ft/lbs, second pass go an additional 90 degrees of rotation, final pass 90 degrees of rotation on all long bolts ( if you have short bolts on the ends they get only 50 degrees additional tightening ). I take a Sharpie and mark a vertical line on the top half of the head on all the bolts once I torque them to 22 ft/lbs that way I don't forget which bolts I tightened and which ones I didn't if I get distracted while torqueing the heads down. When all the 15mm head bolts are done then torque the 10mm head bolts to 22 ft/lbs.

Good rule of thumb, start in the middle and "spiral" to the outside...Of course those little head bolts go last, so there goes that rule!
