    Question tranny pump replacement

how do you going about replacing a broken tranny pump? we broke the one on the new tranny when we were installing it. I have the old pump from the old tranny so should i be able to figure it out? or would i be better off just taking it to the shop and have them do it? and anybody know a app. price for this to be done if i took it to the shop?

Remove the o-ring on the input shaft, remove all bolts from the pump, attach a pump puller and pump comes right out. Buy a new pump gasket and body seal. If you have an extra pump bolt handy, cut the head off of it, saw a screwdriver slot into the bolt section and then thread it a few turns into one of the pump bolt holes. This will help to align the pump correctly as you install the new pump. Wipe some trans fluid around the bore of the trans and on the rubber seal. Install the new paper pump gasket in the trans and o-ring on the pump. Slide the pump over the input shaft and clock the pump so the holes orient correctly, there is only one right way. Install all bolts and torque to specs. Install the input shaft o-ring and you're done.

Don't forget to remove the filter and the lock up solenoid before removing the pump. I would check with your builder before swapping this pump to make sure that a special boost valve, pressure regulator spring, or other specialty items are not in the broken pump that need to be in the one replacing it. Just a thought. Vince
