    cam questions

well me still being new to the gen III motors i had a few questions on a cam selection for future in my yukon xl. well mainly i want something that will pull good down low-mid rpm since this thing is a tank and i plan to pull a car trailer and maybe a camper with it so i dont want to be needing i big stall. like i know gen I motors they make rv cams 4x4 cams towing ect. mainly for low end a mid. just want a lil more umph outa the yukon im planing on doing lt headers no cats and custom true duals with thrush turbo mufflers i like the sound and there not too loud.

Check out www.texas-speed.com they have a nice 22/22 .560/.560 112LSA that would do a good job.

it it a 6.0 or 5.3? if its the 60 then go with that, if its the 5.3 then I would go lower, something between a z06 cam and the comp 212/218, and nothing bigger then the comp 216/220. this would be the more modern version of the rv type cam in these motors.

call up comp or tsp and let them know what your wanting and they will let you know the best setup.

it has the 5.3 i wouldnt mind going with something a bit m0re radical but the size of the vehicle is my main consern i do plan to tow in the future but if and when i do it will only be around 4000-5000lbs and not very far but i dont want to have to swap out my converter only way ill do a converter swap is if my tranny needs to come out for some reason.

    melissa form nelson performance recomended

This cam will give a nice idle and you'll actually gain low end."
but like i said i have no clue im still new to the lsx style motors i just recently found out about how easy it is to swap cams. my girlfriend bought me the book on building lsx motors since im doing lsx swaps in my thirdgen birds

Vinci 210/218 .551 112 lsa would be a good one. Add a TB stall and it'd be an awesome mild setup.

    Just a 4.8.......

the cam you have seems about right, if your still skeptical then call up comp, they should give you around the same specs. for a buget swap grab the 01 or 02+ zo6 cam.

2002+ LS6 cam is more aggressive than the 2001 and earlier models.

I would go with Alan and Melissa's recommendation. He's done one or two of these...
